Privacy Policy

Intellist ("we," "our," or "the app") is a list and inventory management app that helps you organize items, track quantities, and automate restocking with NFC tags. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address (if you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, this is the private relay address Apple provides)
• Full name, if you provide it or your sign-in provider shares it
• Profile photo URL (if you sign in with Google)
• Authentication provider (email, Apple, or Google)
• Which screen in the app you created your account from

Content You Create

The app stores content you create, including:

• Lists and list settings (name, description, room, type)
• Items (name, description, quantity, value, tags, photos)
• Actions (quick-action shortcuts linked to items)
• Automations (threshold-based restocking rules)
• Groups and group memberships (Pro feature)

NFC Tag Data

If you use the NFC feature, the app reads the unique identifier from NFC tags you scan to link them to your lists or actions. We do not collect any other data from NFC tags.

Subscription Information

If you subscribe to Intellist Pro, your subscription status (active, trial, expired) and product identifier are processed through RevenueCat, our in-app purchase provider. We never receive or store your payment card details — all payments are handled by Apple through the App Store.

List Scanning (Camera)

When you scan a handwritten or printed list, the app reads the photo on your device. Intellist does not read or store your scanned photos, and they are not sent to any AI service. Only the list items you choose to keep are saved to your list.

Voice Dictation (Microphone)

When you add items by voice, speech is transcribed by your device's speech recognition. If your device can't transcribe on-device, iOS may send the audio to Apple's speech recognition service. Intellist never receives or stores your audio; only the resulting item text is saved to your list.

In-App Measurement

To understand which parts of the app lead people to Intellist Pro, the app records when the Intellist Pro screen is shown, which screen opened it, and whether a purchase was started or completed. Each record includes a random identifier created for your installation of the app (it is not an advertising identifier and is not derived from your device), your account identifier if you are signed in, and the app version. We also receive subscription events (such as a trial starting or renewing) from RevenueCat. This data stays in our own database and is used only to improve the app.

Website Analytics

Our website, intellist.app, uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to count page visits and measure page performance. These do not use cookies.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Location data
• Contacts or address book
• Device advertising identifiers
• Crash reports or diagnostics
• Your audio recordings or the photos you scan (they are not stored by us)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the app, including creating and managing your account
• Sync your lists, items, and other content across your devices
• Enable shared groups so you can collaborate with others
• Process and manage your subscription status
• Understand which parts of the app lead people to Intellist Pro, so we can improve it
• Deliver group invitations via email address lookup

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

3. How Your Data Is Stored

Local Storage

Intellist is designed as an offline-first app. All of your content is stored locally on your device in a database and remains fully functional without an internet connection. Authentication tokens are stored securely using your device's encrypted keychain.

Cloud Sync

When you are online, your data is synced to our cloud database hosted on Supabase. Cloud data is protected by row-level security policies, meaning you can only access your own data and data shared with you through groups. All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase — Cloud database and authentication. Your account information and synced content are stored on Supabase's infrastructure. Supabase Privacy Policy
• RevenueCat — In-app purchase and subscription management. RevenueCat receives your account identifier (or an anonymous identifier if you are not signed in) and subscription status to manage purchases. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
• Sign in with Apple (optional) — If you choose to sign in with Apple, Apple provides your email address (or a private relay address) and, the first time, your name. Apple Privacy Policy
• Google Sign-In (optional) — If you choose to sign in with Google, your name, email, and profile photo are provided by Google's OAuth service. Google Privacy Policy
• Vercel — Hosts our website and server, and provides the website analytics described above. Vercel Privacy Policy

We do not use advertising or third-party tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not share your data with data brokers or advertisers.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Your data may be shared only in the following limited circumstances:

• Groups: If you join or create a shared group, other group members can see the lists, items, actions, and automations assigned to that group. Your name, email, and profile photo are visible to other group members.
• Service providers: Our third-party infrastructure providers (listed above) process your data solely to operate the service on our behalf.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or governmental request.
• AI assistants you connect: only if you connect one yourself, as described below.

AI Assistant Connectors (Claude, ChatGPT, Meta Muse)

You can choose to connect Intellist to an AI assistant such as Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's ChatGPT, or Meta's Muse (see the connector guide). Nothing is shared until you sign in on intellist.app and approve the connection.

• What the assistant can access: your synced lists and their items (names, descriptions, quantities, checked state), including lists shared with you through groups. It cannot see item photos or values, your actions, automations, or group member details, and it cannot delete lists or items. One exception: on a list you've set to “Delete items when checked”, checking an item off through the assistant moves it to Trash, as it does in the app.
• What it can change: when you ask it to, it can create lists, add and edit items, and check items off. These changes sync to your devices like any other edit.
• What we receive and keep: only the requests the assistant makes on your behalf, which we carry out against your account. We do not receive or store your conversations with the assistant. Responses to the assistant include the identifiers of your lists and items, so it can tell apart lists or items that share a name; they contain no other internal or account identifiers. We use your account identifier to check your Intellist Pro status with RevenueCat when you create a list beyond the free limit.
• What the assistant provider keeps: the list contents it reads are handled under that provider's own privacy policy (Anthropic, Meta).
• Disconnecting: remove Intellist from the assistant's connector settings at any time. To have us revoke every connection on our side, email support@intellist.app.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Your content remains stored as long as you maintain an active account. When you delete content within the app, it is marked for deletion and permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

Data Export: You can export all of your data at any time from the "Data & Privacy" section in your account settings. The export includes your profile, lists, items, actions, automations, groups, and memberships in JSON format.

Account Deletion: You may delete your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email address below. Upon account deletion, all personal data will be permanently removed from our servers.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:

• Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS for all network communication)
• Row-level security policies on our cloud database restricting access to authorized users only
• Secure, encrypted on-device storage for authentication tokens
• No storage of payment or financial information

8. Children's Privacy

Intellist is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you (available via the in-app data export feature)
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent for data processing

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
